Having entered the APL BBC Gardeners’ World Live “Show Garden” competition towards the end of last year we had no preconceptions of what might happen. Designed by our popular in-house Garden Designer Jamie Langlands. Our brief includes provoking childhood memories, a sense of wonder and amazement as well as elements of magic and mystery that both adults and children can enjoy at different levels.
Applications, all from APL Members, we are told, were extremely strong. The selection panel, comprising of Adam Frost (Adam Frost Landscapes), Lucy Hall (editor, BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine) and Andrew Fisher Tomlin (Fisher Tomlin and Bowyer), all commented on the high quality of the applications, especially that of the five winners who now go forward to create their gardens and inspire an expected audience of 90,000 visitors in June.
In the past couple of years, we have attended ‘The Blenheim Flower Show’ whereby we received a Silver Gilt for our 2015 Show Garden. A Silver Medal at the ‘The RHS Malvern Spring Festival’ in 2016, then Gold and Best in Show at the ‘Blenheim Flower Show’ in 2016.
We are absolutely thrilled and look forward to bringing our garden together. With some specialist craft persons’, we have on-board jointly with our skilled team.
We’ve decided to undertake a Charity Garden whereby we will be supporting CLIC Sargent who provide specialist support for young cancer patients and their families.
When cancer strikes young lives CLIC Sargent helps families limit the damage cancer causes beyond their health. The charity provides specialist support, to help and guide each young cancer patient and their family. CLIC Sargent fights tirelessly for them, locally and nationally, so that they can focus on the important things.
From diagnosis, CLIC Sargent’s specialist care teams will step in, ready to help, support and guide families. CLIC Sargent nursing teams provide personal care and support at home, allowing families to avoid travel and stay together where possible. Close to specialist hospitals, the CLIC Sargent Homes from Home are havens for patients and families during treatment, alleviating the financial cost and emotional strain of cancer so that families can stay together during the toughest times.
